Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng has shared his thoughts after playing a key role in Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s impressive 5-2 comeback victory over Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.
Union SG found themselves trailing by two goals but produced a remarkable turnaround to claim all three points in front of their home supporters.
The former Orlando Pirates star played the entire match as his team looked to bounce back from a 1-1 draw against Oud-Heverlee Leuven in their previous league fixture.
Mofokeng continued his impressive run of form by scoring in the 80th minute with a well-directed header, registering his fourth league goal of the season.
The South African international was not finished there, as he provided an assist for Union SG’s fifth goal deep into stoppage time to complete an outstanding individual performance.
After the match, Mofokeng was asked how he managed to score a header despite being shorter than many of his opponents.
According to Pro League, the talented midfielder credited his determination and mentality for the achievement.
“It’s just on your mind, if the desire is there and the mentality is there, you’ll always get the goal,” Mofokeng explained.
He added that although he was pleased with his performance, he still wanted to contribute more, particularly when competing for aerial balls.
The performance further underlined Mofokeng’s growing influence in Belgian football.
