Mike Makaab Confirms Player Is Free to Choose His Next Club Amid Chiefs Interest

Mike Makaab Confirms Kobamelo Kodisang Is Free to Join Any Club After Sundowns Exit

South African attacker Kobamelo Kodisang is reportedly available to join any club following the termination of his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, with football agent Mike Makaab confirming that the 25-year-old is free to decide his next career move.

Kodisang’s availability has attracted attention among supporters, particularly Kaizer Chiefs fans who are eager to know whether the Naturena-based club could move to secure his services. His attacking versatility and experience in European football could make him an attractive option for teams looking to strengthen their offensive departments.

Makaab addressed the situation after a football supporter asked whether Kodisang had the freedom to choose his next destination. The agent responded directly, saying, “Yes, of course,” suggesting that the player can consider offers from interested clubs without Sundowns determining where he should play next.

Being a free agent could work in Kodisang’s favour, as interested teams would not have to negotiate a transfer fee with Sundowns. However, any potential move would still depend on the player's preferences, contractual arrangements and whether an agreement can be reached with a prospective club.

Kodisang previously gained valuable experience in Portugal, where he reportedly spent two seasons with Moreirense. During that period, he made 68 appearances, contributing 14 goals and eight assists. His time in European football offered him an opportunity to develop his game before returning to South Africa.

The attacker’s ability to operate on either flank or through the middle could also increase his appeal to potential employers. His flexibility would give coaches additional options when selecting their attacking formations.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters will therefore be watching developments closely as speculation about a possible move to Naturena continues. However, there is currently no confirmed agreement between the Soweto giants and Kodisang.

For now, the attacker’s immediate priority will be finding a club that offers the right opportunity to rebuild his career and demonstrate his qualities. Whether he remains in the Premier Soccer League or pursues another opportunity abroad remains to be seen.
