Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has outlined the importance of securing a positive result at home as the South African club continues its campaign in the CAF Champions League. His remarks highlight the team's determination to put itself in a strong position to progress to the next stage of the continental competition.

Pirates understand that success in the CAF Champions League requires careful planning, discipline and consistent performances across both legs of a tie. With qualification at stake, the team will need to make the most of its opportunities and avoid mistakes that could give its opponents an advantage.

Speaking to the media, Ouaddou stressed the importance of producing a strong performance in front of the club's supporters. He explained that the result achieved at home could have a significant influence on the team's chances of advancing.

"It will be important to come back with a very good result at home in order to get an opportunity to qualify for the second game,” Ouaddou told the media.

The coach's statement reflects the importance of approaching the tie strategically. In two-legged continental fixtures, a positive home result can provide a team with confidence and greater flexibility when preparing for the return encounter. However, Pirates will also need to remain focused throughout the contest to ensure they do not surrender an advantage.

Playing at home can offer important benefits, including familiar surroundings and the encouragement of passionate supporters. Pirates will be hoping to use these advantages to deliver a convincing performance and create opportunities to score.

Nevertheless, the team cannot afford to underestimate its opponents. CAF Champions League matches are often decided by small details, and defensive concentration can be just as important as attacking quality. Maintaining organisation, controlling the midfield and taking advantage of scoring chances could prove decisive.

For Ouaddou, preparing the squad mentally and tactically will be essential. The players must understand the importance of every phase of the match and remain disciplined even when the pressure increases. A strong collective performance would help the team move closer to achieving its qualification ambitions.

Orlando Pirates have a significant following that expects the club to compete strongly on the continental stage. Supporters will therefore be eager to see whether the team can deliver the result required to strengthen its position in the competition.

The coach's comments make it clear that the immediate priority is to secure a favourable outcome at home. Such a result would give Pirates a better platform from which to approach the next encounter.

Ultimately, the club's progress will depend on how effectively it translates its preparations into performance on the pitch. With qualification in focus, Pirates must combine attacking purpose with defensive discipline to keep its CAF Champions League ambitions alive.
