Sundowns Get Reality Check as Scary PSG Dismantle Man City

Following their 4-2 UEFA Champions League victory over Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain issued a stern warning to Mamelodi Sundowns, prompting speculation as to whether the South African champions will be able to hold their own against the European powerhouses in a possible FIFA Intercontinental Cup final later this year.

The defending French champions put on a spectacular display at Wednesday's Etihad Stadium, scoring three goals (Desiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, and Vitinha) in the first half. After the break, Manchester City equalized through Erling Haaland, but PSG's lead was swiftly restored by Maghnes Akliouche. Even though City scored twice in the last minutes of the match, they were unable to salvage a resounding loss.

Sundowns fans are paying attention to the outcome because their Brazilian team could face PSG in December if they advance further in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Sundowns won the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup after a recent victory over Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli. As a result, they qualified for the Challenger Cup. If they win their match against the Derby of the Americas winner on November 28, they will have a chance to meet PSG in the final.

Sundowns defender Lovers Mohlala thinks his former club should be confident in their ability to face the best teams in Europe, despite the difficulty of the task ahead.

According to Mohlala, Sundowns' performance at the FIFA Club World Cup proved they could compete on a global stage. The South African players, he said, should not be scared off by the European competition.

The former defender claims that teams can succeed in football by limiting their errors and making the most of their opportunities, and that the sport will always be unpredictable.

Even though Sundowns have already guarantyd their spot in the final, Mohlala warned fans not to get too excited about a possible showdown until then.

He spoke highly of the Brazilians, saying that their victory over Al Ahli was a huge deal for football in South Africa.

Although Sundowns are still having success on the African continent and at home, they are focused on getting through the Challenger Cup right now. Then, and only then, will the Brazilians have a chance to prove themselves against one of Europe's top teams—PSG.
