President Yama 2k Shines Again as USG Fight Back for Big Win

South African star Relebohile Mofokeng put in another strong performance for his Belgian club on Sunday night.

The Bafana Bafana forward, better known as President Yama 2k, scored one goal and made one assist as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise came from two goals down to beat Cercle Brugge 5-2 in the Jupiler Pro League. He finished the match with the highest Sofascore rating of 8.9.

USG found themselves in trouble early. They trailed 1-0 after a penalty and then fell further behind early in the second half. But the home side refused to give up. They scored three times in the second period before Mofokeng stepped up.

In the 80th minute the 22-year-old rose to head home the fourth goal and put his team firmly in front. Ten minutes later he set up Kevin Rodriguez for the fifth and final goal. It was a perfect end to a tough but rewarding night for the young South African.

Mofokeng played the full 90 minutes and created the most chances of anyone on the pitch. His display helped Union Saint-Gilloise climb to third place on the league table with 23 points from nine matches. They now sit only two points behind leaders Gent.

The goal was his fifth in the league this season. The assist was also his second. Fans back home were quick to praise the Vaal-born attacker, who only recently celebrated his 22nd birthday.

Mofokeng moved to Belgium after a successful spell at Orlando Pirates. He has settled quickly and already has a Belgian Super Cup medal to his name. His form has also kept him in the thoughts of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Cercle Brugge remain bottom of the table without a win this season. Another South African, Luke Le Roux, started for the losing side but could not stop the late collapse.

For Mofokeng it was another reminder of why many call him one of the brightest talents to come out of South Africa in recent years. He continues to show that he can produce on the big stage when his team needs him most.

Union Saint-Gilloise will look to build on this result as they push for a top-two finish and a place in European competition next season. South African supporters will keep watching every move the young forward makes.
