Tylo Sanger, a defender for Durban City, has piqued the interest of a club in the Scottish Premiership due to his standout performances in the Betway Premiership. His agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that the club has made inquiries about the young South African player.
In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Makaab mentioned he was approached by the Scottish club’s head of recruitment, who sought to gather more information about Sanger. However, he did not reveal the club's name or whether a formal transfer bid had been made.
"There is a topflight team in Scotland that is interested in Tylo Sanger. I received a call from their head of recruitment asking about him," Makaab stated.
The 22-year-old defender joined Durban City before the 2026/27 season after playing for Cape Town Spurs. His journey from lower-league football to the top division in South Africa has garnered attention.
Sanger has had a positive start at Durban City, consistently playing matches and proving he can compete at the Premiership level. His performances have now reportedly caught the attention of a Scottish team.
Makaab expressed delight at Sanger's progress, noting his significant recovery from injury issues that once jeopardized his career.
"My greatest joy is witnessing players like Tylo Sanger rise from the ABC Motsepe League and consistently perform for Durban City. Those moments bring me happiness. Just a year and a half ago, he was close to giving up due to injury," the agent shared.
The reported interest from Scotland adds to the buzz surrounding Sanger, who is also being linked to top South African clubs like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. However, no transfer agreement has been finalized.
For now, Sanger remains with Durban City, and his ongoing performances will be crucial in determining if the interest translates into a formal offer.
