Sundowns Ladies Ready for African Showpiece in Egypt

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are preparing for another shot at continental glory as the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League gets underway in Egypt on 1 November. The South African champions will be aiming to secure their third title and reaffirm their status as one of Africa’s leading women’s football clubs.

The tournament will run until 15 November, bringing together eight of the continent’s top teams in a competition expected to deliver exciting football and intense battles for the prestigious trophy.

Sundowns Ladies previously lifted the title in 2021 and 2023. However, they missed out on the 2025 edition, making their return to the continental competition particularly important as they seek to reclaim their place among Africa’s best.

The Brazilians have been drawn in Group A alongside Egyptian hosts FC Masar, Cameroon’s Lekié Football Filles and Morocco’s FUS Rabat.

Their campaign begins against FC Masar on 1 November at 17:00. They will then face Lekié Football Filles on 4 November at 14:00 before concluding their group-stage matches against FUS Rabat on 7 November, also at 14:00.

Sundowns Ladies will need to deliver consistent performances throughout the group stage, with every point potentially proving crucial in their quest to reach the semi-finals.

The 2026 tournament will also welcome three debutants: FUS Rabat, Lekié Football Filles and Kawempe Muslim Ladies. Their participation adds fresh competition as emerging teams look to make their mark on the African stage.

Meanwhile, Moroccan giants AS FAR will be hoping to become the first club to successfully defend the CAF Women’s Champions League title.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 11 November, while the final will take place on 15 November at Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

For Sundowns Ladies, the objective is clear: win three continental titles and strengthen their legacy in African women's football. Their previous successes provide valuable experience, but they will need to prove themselves once again against determined opponents.

South African supporters will be watching closely to see whether the Brazilians can rise to the occasion and bring another prestigious continental trophy home.
