Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz believes young attacker Wandile Duba has the potential to represent South Africa at senior international level if he continues to develop and improve his performances.
Duba has attracted attention for his displays with Amakhosi, with the youngster showing qualities that have encouraged the coaching staff. Da Cruz is pleased with the forward’s progress but believes consistency will be key to helping him reach the next level.
“I am very happy for Duba; he is a young player, and so sometimes he has a lot of ups and downs. He must improve his consistency,” Da Cruz noted.
The coach’s comments highlight both Duba’s potential and the areas of his game that still require improvement. Young players often experience fluctuations in form as they gain experience, and maintaining a consistent level of performance is an important part of their development.
For Duba, the challenge will be to build on his promising performances and establish himself as a reliable attacking option for Kaizer Chiefs. Regular contributions, improved decision-making and greater consistency could strengthen his position within the team.
Da Cruz’s confidence in the youngster also raises the possibility of a future opportunity with Bafana Bafana. South Africa coach Hugo Broos continues to oversee the national team, with emerging talent potentially offering additional options in attack.
However, a senior national team call-up is not guaranteed, and Duba will need to continue performing at club level to strengthen his chances of attracting attention from the national team selectors.
For now, the focus remains on his development at Kaizer Chiefs. With continued progress and improved consistency, Duba could put himself in a stronger position to compete for a place in the Bafana Bafana squad in the future.
