AmaZulu striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has been rewarded with R20,000 after winning the club’s Mitsubishi Player of the Quarter award, following a series of impressive performances for the Durban-based outfit.
The 23-year-old Zimbabwean forward emerged as the supporters’ favourite, finishing ahead of teammates Nkosikhona Radebe and Taariq Fielies in the fan-driven voting process.
AmaZulu announced Ngwenya as the winner on social media on October 20, 2026, confirming that he received the award from head coach Arthur Zwane and members of the technical team at the club’s training ground.
The club also expressed its appreciation to the supporters who participated in the voting, acknowledging their contribution to selecting the award recipient.
Ngwenya, meanwhile, thanked the AmaZulu faithful for their continued support and for recognising his efforts on the pitch.
The award comes at a time when the Zimbabwean forward is enjoying an excellent spell in front of goal. Statistics attributed to Transfermarkt indicate that he has scored eight goals and provided one assist in nine appearances, demonstrating his importance to AmaZulu's attacking setup.
His impressive scoring record has helped establish him as a key figure in the Usuthu squad. Winning the supporters’ vote ahead of two teammates further highlights the growing appreciation for his performances.
Beyond the financial reward, the recognition serves as encouragement for the striker to maintain his current form as AmaZulu continue their campaign.
The Durban-based club will be hoping Ngwenya can carry his scoring momentum into their upcoming Carling Knockout Cup fixture against Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
The encounter presents another opportunity for the forward to add to his goal tally and help AmaZulu advance further in the competition.
With the season progressing, maintaining his consistency in front of goal could prove crucial to the club's ambitions. His ability to convert chances and contribute to the team's attacking play will remain important as AmaZulu face their upcoming challenges.
For now, the R20,000 reward represents a timely boost for Ngwenya, whose recent performances have earned him recognition from both the club's technical team and its supporters.
