Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi is reportedly set to leave the Soweto giants to pursue a head coaching opportunity at another Betway Premiership club, with Golden Arrows emerging as his potential destination.

According to reports, Orlando Pirates held discussions with Ncikazi on Thursday morning, October 22, 2026, before granting him permission to explore the opportunity. His expected departure would mark the end of an important chapter at the club, where he has played a significant role in the technical team.

Ncikazi has established himself as an experienced figure in South African football, having worked with several teams in the Premier Soccer League. His understanding of the domestic game and experience in coaching have made him a respected member of the coaching fraternity.

During his time at Orlando Pirates, Ncikazi reportedly helped the club secure nine trophies as part of the technical team. His contribution highlights the important role assistant coaches play in tactical preparation, player development and implementing the head coach's philosophy.

Although assistant coaches often work behind the scenes, their influence can be crucial to a team's success. Ncikazi's experience at Pirates could therefore prove valuable as he considers taking greater responsibility for another club's performances.

Golden Arrows have been strongly linked with the experienced coach, raising the possibility of a return to familiar surroundings. Ncikazi previously coached the Durban-based outfit, and his knowledge of the club and the Premiership could make him an attractive candidate for the position.

However, an official announcement confirming his appointment and the details of any agreement are still needed.

For Orlando Pirates, Ncikazi's potential exit would require adjustments to the technical team's structure as the club continues pursuing domestic honours. The Buccaneers will need to ensure that preparations for upcoming matches remain unaffected by the anticipated change.

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows supporters will be watching developments closely, particularly if Ncikazi returns to lead the team.

For now, his future remains a major talking point, with further confirmation expected to clarify the situation.
