Kaizer Chiefs winger Glody Makabi Lilepo remains unavailable for selection as he serves his domestic football suspension, with his return to action dependent on the conclusion of the disciplinary process.
The Congolese international's absence from the club's pre-season training camp in Spain has fuelled speculation about his future at Naturena. Reports suggest that clubs in North Africa, particularly Libya and Morocco, have shown interest in signing the winger.
Despite the growing transfer rumours, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has indicated that Lilepo could still feature in his plans if a move away from the club fails to materialise. The coach's comments have offered some hope that the player could return to the squad once his disciplinary issues are resolved.
Lilepo, 28, joined Chiefs in January 2025 on a two-and-a-half-year contract after leaving French club Valenciennes. Since arriving at Naturena, he has impressed supporters with his pace, creativity and attacking ability, establishing himself as an important option in the team's forward line.
However, his ongoing suspension means Chiefs cannot rely on him for their opening matches of the new Betway Premiership campaign. The Soweto giants will have to turn to their other attacking players while awaiting clarity on his situation.
His return could prove valuable to Da Cruz as he continues rebuilding the team following Chiefs' Nedbank Cup triumph last season. Lilepo's ability to create chances and score goals could strengthen the club's attacking options as they pursue further domestic success.
For now, uncertainty surrounds the winger's future. The outcome of the disciplinary proceedings is expected to play a key role in determining whether he continues his career at Kaizer Chiefs or moves to another club.
