Patrick Maswanganyi’s agent, Arnold Rankoko, has strongly dismissed reports claiming that the former Orlando Pirates midfielder has terminated his contract with Al-Khaldiya SC, describing the allegations as fake news.
Rankoko insists that there is no truth to the reports and believes that someone is deliberately attempting to damage the South African footballer’s reputation.
The agent has come out in defence of Maswanganyi amid the circulating claims, maintaining that the midfielder remains focused on his football commitments and is preparing for his club’s upcoming match.
“There is someone who clearly has it in for this boy,” Rankoko said while expressing his frustration over the reports.
He firmly rejected suggestions that Maswanganyi had ended his contract with the Bahraini club, insisting that the player was still preparing for Wednesday’s game.
“There is nothing of the sort at all. In fact, he is preparing for their game on Wednesday. You can even go to the club’s Instagram page and see his pictures there. This is all fake news,” he added.
Rankoko also suggested that the reports were part of an attempt to create a negative image of the midfielder. According to the agent, the claims risk portraying Maswanganyi as a player with disciplinary or professional problems, despite his denial that the contract story is true.
“They are trying everything to paint him as a rotten apple. He is being targeted, and people are going all out to assassinate his character, painting him as a Bad Boy,” Rankoko stated.
Maswanganyi, popularly known as Tito, previously played for Orlando Pirates before continuing his career with Al-Khaldiya SC. His move away from the Soweto giants attracted attention from South African football supporters, many of whom continue to follow his progress abroad.
The latest controversy has now placed the midfielder’s name back in the spotlight, with his agent determined to challenge the claims surrounding his contractual situation.
For now, Rankoko’s message is clear: he denies that Maswanganyi has terminated his contract and says the player is preparing for the next match. The claims about his contract remain disputed, with the agent insisting that the reports are false.
