Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau is reportedly preparing to embrace fatherhood, marking another exciting chapter in his life after retiring from professional football.
The 46-year-old former right-back, who was born in Kimberley, has successfully transitioned from the football pitch to television punditry. He currently works as a football analyst for SuperSport TV, where he continues to share his knowledge and experience of the game with viewers.
According to a report published by Briefly on Monday, Tau and his wife, Thabile Ngwato, are expecting their first child together.
Ngwato is a prominent South African businesswoman who serves as the co-founder and chief executive officer of Newzroom Afrika and the Ngwato Nkosi Group. Despite her high-profile career, she generally keeps her private life away from public attention.
The report further states that the 36-year-old businesswoman, who hails from Mpumalanga, is excited about the prospect of becoming a mother.
Tau and Ngwato reportedly share a 10-year age difference. The couple tied the knot in an intimate traditional wedding ceremony in May 2025, bringing their relationship into a new chapter.
Before settling down with Ngwato, the former Bafana Bafana international was previously linked to Tsholofelo Mhlongo and Sizakele Manonga, both of whom were younger than him.
Although Tau enjoyed considerable success during his football career, the reported pregnancy news has shifted attention towards his personal life and the possibility of starting a family with his wife.
