Twist Of Horror: Striker Trapped in SA as Multi-Million Transfer Completely Collapses at Midnight

Ohizu Transfer Move Collapses Again As North African Switch Falls Through

Chibuike Ohizu, a forward for Sekhukhune United, will allegedly stay with Babina Noko after yet another effort to have him transferred abroad fell through. Ohizu was supposed to play for a club in North Africa.

Sekhukhune was approached by a North African club over a potential move to Ohizu during the just-ended transfer window, which drew renewed attention from Libya. Unfortunately, the transfer didn't happen before Monday night's Premier Soccer League deadline closed.

The most recent turn of events adds another frustrating chapter to Ohizu's ongoing efforts to get out of the Limpopo club.

Algeria have shown interest in the 29-year-old in the past. Sekhukhune were supposedly seeking over $300,000 for the striker two years ago, while Algerian powerhouses MC Alger supposedly offered around $150,000.

Finally, an agreement was not reached during those discussions, and Ohizu was left in Sekhukhune. Even though he was loaned out to Siwelele for the 2025–26 season, the club extended his contract in April of last year.

Just before the new season began, his circumstances took a turn for the worse when he managed to get permanent residency in South Africa. His availability at the start of the campaign was delayed due to an essential administrative impediment, but thanks to this development, Sekhukhune was able to register him as a non-foreign player.

Since then, Ohizu has made a triumphant comeback to the Sekhukhune formation, starting on the bench. Earlier this month, he came on in the second half to help his team earn a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch.

After Sekhukhune admitted earlier this month that Ohizu and Bethuel Muzeu's registration issues had limited the club's offensive options, the striker's continuing presence may potentially be beneficial to the team. Just before the transfer deadline, coach Papi Zothwane said that they would look at adding another striker to the roster.

Even if the chance in North Africa is no longer on the table, Ohizu is still in Sekhukhune's plans and must concentrate on re-establishing his place on the team.

Another possible transfer for the Nigerian striker has also failed to materialise, therefore maintaining his lengthy relationship with Babina Noko.
