Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has reflected on his team's impressive performance after securing a 2-0 victory over Durban City in the Carling Knockout on Wednesday night, while also sharing a heartwarming tribute to Grobler.

The match was played at Chatsworth Stadium, where Stellenbosch delivered a strong performance to advance in the competition. The victory was particularly significant for Hunt, who faced his former side, Durban City, in a match that carried an additional personal connection for the experienced coach.

Hunt's team showed determination and discipline to secure the result, with the two goals proving decisive in a competitive encounter. The win also provided Stellenbosch with a positive moment as they continue their campaign in the Carling Knockout, one of South African football's major domestic cup competitions.

Speaking to the media after the match, Hunt reflected on the performance and the importance of getting the result against a familiar opponent. Facing a former club can bring added attention, but the Stellenbosch coach's priority was to guide his current team through the challenge and secure progression in the tournament.

Beyond the result, Hunt's comments also included a touching tribute to Grobler, adding an emotional dimension to the post-match discussion. The tribute offered a reminder that football extends beyond results and trophies, with personal relationships and the contributions of individuals also holding an important place in the game.

For Stellenbosch, the 2-0 victory represents an encouraging step forward in their Carling Knockout campaign. The team will now look to build on the momentum gained from the win as they pursue further success in the competition.

Hunt's post-match reflections combined the satisfaction of a cup victory with a moment of appreciation for Grobler, making the evening memorable for reasons beyond the scoreline.

While the victory was the main sporting highlight, the tribute added a personal touch to Stellenbosch's success and underlined the human side of the game.
