Mamelodi Sundowns have arrived in Angola ahead of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round encounter against Wiliete, with the South African champions now focused on making a strong start to their 2026/27 continental campaign.

The Brazilians travelled to Angola with their attention firmly fixed on securing a positive result in the opening leg. Their arrival signals the final stage of preparations, as the players and technical team turn their attention to the tactical and physical demands of facing the Angolan side on home soil.

Sundowns enter the competition as defending champions, placing additional pressure on the club to produce strong performances from the outset. Their extensive experience in African club competitions is expected to be an important advantage as they attempt to navigate what could be a challenging tie.

The South African giants will be targeting a result that puts them in a favourable position before the return fixture. A positive away performance could provide Sundowns with greater confidence and reduce the pressure heading into the decisive second leg.

The technical team is expected to use the remaining preparation period to finalise its tactical approach, assess the condition of the squad and ensure the players are fully prepared for the encounter. Efficiency in front of goal, defensive organisation and concentration will be crucial if Sundowns are to achieve their desired result.

Wiliete, meanwhile, will be determined to make full use of home advantage and frustrate the visitors. The Angolan club will understand the quality and continental experience Sundowns possess but will be hoping to produce a performance capable of giving them an advantage in the tie.

For Sundowns, the encounter represents the beginning of another demanding journey in African football. Expectations will be high from supporters, particularly because of their status as defending champions.

With the match now approaching, Sundowns will look to combine their quality and experience with discipline and determination as they seek a favourable result and an important step towards qualification for the next round.
