CAF Rewards Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns Despite Exits

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly expected to receive approximately R1.6 million each from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) despite their elimination from their respective continental competitions.

The two South African football giants were knocked out on Friday night, bringing their campaigns to an end and ending their hopes of advancing further in the tournaments. However, the reported payments could provide some financial compensation for their participation.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the early exit represents a setback as the Soweto-based club continues its efforts to rebuild its standing in African football. Supporters had hoped Amakhosi would progress further and challenge for continental honours, but their journey ended sooner than anticipated.

Despite the disappointment, the reported CAF payment would offer the club some financial relief following its elimination. However, the money is unlikely to erase the frustration surrounding the team's premature departure from the competition.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns are also reportedly set to receive approximately R1.6 million following their exit. The Tshwane-based side has established itself as a prominent force in African football, with high expectations whenever it competes on the continent.

Although both clubs failed to progress, the reported payments would ensure they receive some financial benefit from their participation.

The reported figures have not been independently verified.
