Coach Luis Enrique faces a tactical disaster after losing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia following a major injury sustained during a Champions League match against Barcelona.

Medical investigations confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament damage in the winger’s right knee, according to the French club’s official statement.

PSG informed on its official website that Kvaratskhelia will need surgery in the coming days following his injury sustained during the 4-2 victory over Barcelona.

It’s a significant loss. The French will be without one of their most deadly attacking threats for the foreseeable future, with the exact duration of his absence unknown until he undergoes surgery and begins rehabilitation.

Kvaratskhelia limped out of the Barcelona game in the second half, but medical investigations revealed the seriousness of his injury and the need for surgery.

The bad news did not end there. PSG also revealed that Ousmane Dembélé will continue to get therapy for a left thigh muscle ailment in the coming weeks.

Brazilian defender Marquinhos will be sidelined for a similar period of time due to a right thigh muscle injury sustained in the same encounter.

Three major injuries resulted from a single 4-2 victory over Barcelona. That’s the harsh reality for Luis Enrique and his coaching staff, who must now assess their players’ condition ahead of a hectic schedule of games.
