Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces mounting criticism as supporters express frustration over the club’s worsening performances and leadership.
United’s latest setback came against Chelsea, where a 2-0 defeat extended their winless streak to nine matches across all competitions.
The struggling side now occupies 17th place in the Premier League, intensifying concerns about its direction and prospects this season.
Travelling supporters criticised both Ratcliffe and the Glazer family, highlighting widespread dissatisfaction with decisions made by the club’s ownership group.
Ratcliffe acquired his initial minority stake in December 2023, subsequently increasing his holding while taking responsibility for major football operations.
Controversial measures, including staff redundancies and higher ticket prices, have damaged his relationship with sections of the Manchester United fanbase.
During the Chelsea defeat, furious supporters openly demanded his departure, chanting, “Sell United and f*** off home,” alongside other protests, reports Mirror.
Despite growing hostility, Ratcliffe previously acknowledged that he could tolerate criticism temporarily, although his patience with abuse had clear limits.
Speaking to The Times in an earlier interview, Ratcliffe declared, “I mean, I can put up with it for a while.”
He added, “I don’t mind being unpopular,” explaining that supporters understandably resent United’s struggles and the difficult decisions being made.
However, Ratcliffe indicated that prolonged personal hostility could eventually become unacceptable, particularly considering the abuse previously directed towards the Glazers.
His earlier remarks have regained attention as United’s results deteriorate, leaving supporters questioning whether improvements will arrive under his leadership.
