Amanda Nunes is adamant that her return next month isn’t a ‘one and done’.

Kayla Harrison recently admitted that she doubted herself after undergoing surgery for the neck injury that cancelled her first title defense at the start of the year.

While she doesn’t know whether next month will be her last fight, Harrison knows that she’s coming to the end after the various health issues she’s had to overcome.

However, this fight being delayed hasn’t impacted Nunes’ comeback plans, with the former champion insisting that this is the start of a new chapter for her.

Amanda Nunes plans on defending bantamweight title at least once if she wins at UFC 334

Amanda Nunes has had to wait a long time to finally make her return to the Octagon.

After announcing her decision to come out of retirement, Nunes told fans that she is here to stay when opening up on how difficult it was to adjust to life after fighting.

Her plans being delayed by Kayla Harrison’s injury haven’t changed this despite it now being over three years since she last competed.

Nunes was asked during an appearance on UFC’s Deep Waters whether she’ll ride off into the sunset again if she’s able to reclaim the bantamweight title on November 14.

“You gotta defend the belt, for sure,” she replied after saying she won’t retire with a win. “Then we’re gonna see.”

Nunes still feels rejuvenated by the time she has spent even after biding her time until Harrison was healthy and ready to compete.

During her appearance on Deep Waters, ‘The Lioness’ was asked whether it was this matchup that prompted her to return.

“I don’t think so,” she said. “I would have come back anyways. I had a hard time being away. I think I did the break at the right time… I was like so burned out and I kinda needed the break.”

This fight being so significant to both women and their legacies is the reason why some have suggested that we could see two retirements next month due to the lack of another clear goal to accomplish.
