Shannon Briggs has called out Mike Tyson after revealing that the former undisputed heavyweight champion is back in training. Tyson last fought just under two years ago when Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, beat him. The event drew record global viewership on the streaming service Netflix, and an exhibition against Floyd Mayweather was then agreed in September. However, a hand injury to Tyson delayed the contest before Mayweather complicated things further by agreeing to face kickboxer Mike Zambidis and Manny Pacquiao.

But in a message to Tyson, Briggs, speaking via Mr Gamble, said: “I heard a few rumours. I heard about Floyd Mayweather. I’ve heard different things.

“I think the last I heard was Floyd Mayweather, but I think he’s in training and all that, looking good. But I don’t gotta do any of that. I don’t gotta do any training, nothing.

“All I gotta do is get ready, hit them one time. All I gotta do is put on my shorts, take off my shirt and knock them out.

“All I gotta do is get ready, hit them one time. All I gotta do is put on my shorts, take off my shirt and knock them out.

“I want that fight with Mike, the Battle of Brooklyn, at the Barclays. We’ll sell it out. Exhibition. Let’s go, champ. Or Betsy Head Park in Brownsville. We can do it right there.

“Any fight is of interest to me. I’m always willing. Mike Tyson, I think, is gonna fight again. He’s 60 something years old. I think Holyfield had his last fight when he was 59.

“I’m only 54 years old. I’m a lot younger than these guys. And I want a shot. I want to do an exhibition but they’re scared of me, champ.

“They talk a lot, but when it’s time for the fight, they get scared when they see this right here. This is the power fist. When I hit them with the power fist, they’re scared, all of them. Rampage Jackson, all of them. Lennox Lewis. I asked Lennox Lewis, “Let’s do an exhibition.” Nobody wants to do one with me.”

However, Briggs' comments at a point in time when it appears that a breakthrough has now been made between Mayweather and Tyson. Mayweather, who has won titles across five weight classes, has competed in a number of exhibition bouts since retiring in 2017 and believes he will fight Tyson before the end of the year.

He said: "December we got Mayweather-Mike Tyson exhibition, that’s definitely going to be in December. And I think Pacquiao-Mayweather will be somewhere in 2027.”
