Premier League Matchday 7 Preview

The Premier League Matchday 7 action continues on Sunday, October 18, 2026, with seven exciting fixtures across the country, headlined by a crucial showdown between FC Samartex 1996 and unbeaten league leaders Medeama SC at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Medeama will aim to protect their unbeaten start and consolidate their position at the summit, while Asante Kotoko SC, Aduana FC and Port City FC seek immediate responses to last weekend’s defeats.

Elsewhere, Swedru All Blacks and Basake Holy Stars FC will look to capitalise on home advantage, as struggling Debibi United FC and Dreams FC face difficult assignments.

FC Samartex test Medeama's unbeaten run

League leaders Medeama SC face one of their toughest tests yet when they travel to Samreboi to meet FC Samartex 1996 in the Western derby on Sunday.

Medeama top the standings with 14 points from six matches after recording four consecutive victories in their last five outings, alongside one draw. They have scored a league-high 12 goals and conceded five, underlining their strength at both ends of the pitch.

Samartex, third with 11 points, will be eager to respond after suffering their first defeat of the season, a 1-0 loss to newly promoted FC Ashanti Gold ’04. The Timber Giants remain unbeaten at home, with two wins and a draw from three matches, and can draw confidence from an impressive home record against Medeama, having won twice and drawn twice in their last four league meetings at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Neither side managed to gain the upper hand in their Premier League meetings last season, with both encounters ending in draws. The first fixture in Tarkwa finished 1-1, before the return clash in Samreboi ended goalless, underlining the competitive nature of this rivalry.

With just three points separating the sides, the encounter could prove significant in shaping the early title race.

Kotoko seek response against Young Apostles

Asante Kotoko SC return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium determined to recover from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Swedru All Blacks.

The Porcupine Warriors have slipped to 12th with eight points and need a strong performance to reignite their campaign. Their home form offers encouragement, having secured both of their league victories this season in Kumasi.

Young Apostles travel to Kumasi with renewed confidence after ending a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Aduana FC. However, the Wenchi-based side remain in the relegation zone, sitting 16th with six points, and face a stern examination against a Kotoko side desperate to return to winning ways.

Aduana, Port City chase bounce-back victories

Aduana FC will seek an immediate response to their 1-0 defeat to Young Apostles when they host newly promoted FC Ashanti Gold ’04 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.

The Fire Club sit sixth with 10 points and will rely on home advantage after winning two of their three league matches in Dormaa. However, Ashanti Gold ’04 travel to Dormaa Ahenkro in confident mood following a 1-0 victory over Samartex, a result that lifted them to fifth with 10 points. The visitors will be targeting another positive result as they seek to improve their away form.

Port City FC also face a must-respond assignment when they welcome winless Dreams FC to the Nana Boamah Darko II Park in Kukurantumi.

The newly promoted side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak last weekend but remain fourth with 10 points. Unbeaten at home after three matches, Port City will hope to turn their strong home performances into another victory.

Dreams FC, however, are desperate for a breakthrough. The Still Believe lads sit bottom of the table with just two points after two draws and four defeats, and have lost all three away matches this season. Port City will see the fixture as an opportunity to strengthen their position, but Dreams FC will be fighting to revive their faltering campaign.

Swedru All Blacks target home comfort

Swedru All Blacks will look to build on their morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko when they host Karela United FC at the Swedru Stadium.

The Black Magicians sit 10th with eight points and remain unbeaten at home, recording two wins and a draw from their opening three matches. Karela, eighth with nine points, will be eager to end a troubling away run after losing all three of their road fixtures this season.

The visitors have also gone eight consecutive away league matches without a victory, making Sunday’s encounter an important opportunity to change their fortunes.

Basake Holy Stars face in-form Bechem United

Basake Holy Stars FC will aim to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Gold Stars SC when they host Bechem United FC at the AAK II Sports Arena in Anyinase.

The hosts sit ninth with nine points and have built their campaign around strong home performances, winning all three of their league victories at home by identical 1-0 scorelines.

Bechem United, seventh with 10 points, arrive after an impressive 4-2 victory over Vision FC. The Hunters will be keen to carry that attacking momentum into Anyinase, although they are yet to win away from home this season.

Holy Stars will take confidence from winning both of their previous home league meetings with Bechem United, setting the stage for a competitive encounter.

Debibi United seek relief against Gold Stars

Debibi United FC face another important test as they welcome Gold Stars SC to Debibi Presby Park, hoping to end a three-match losing streak and climb out of the relegation zone.

The newcomers sit 17th with four points after a 3-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea last weekend. Their home record offers some hope, with one win, one draw and one defeat from three matches.

Gold Stars, 14th with seven points, travel to United encouraged by a 2-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars that ended a two-game winless spell. The Miners have shown greater promise away from home, recording one win, one draw and one defeat, and will be looking to secure another valuable result.
