Lamine Yamal has once again won the Young Talent of the Year Award, becoming the first footballer in history to win the accolade in three consecutive editions. Following his victories in 2024 and 2025, the young FC Barcelona forward has once again been chosen as the best under-21 footballer in the world, confirming his dominance of an award that, by now, to all intents and purposes, bears his name.
At just 19 years of age, the youngster from Rocafonda in Mataró continues to build an extraordinary career. If his first award, in 2024, was already important because of his precocious talent, and his second, in 2025, made him the first player ever to successfully defend the title, he has now gone one step further with an unprecedented third consecutive win, placing him in a privileged position in football history.
The 2025/26 season has once again confirmed Lamine Yamal's status in world football. The forward was one of Barça's most influential players in a campaign that ended with the club winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
His statistics speak for themselves. In 45 appearances for the blaugranes, he recorded 24 goals and 18 assists, numbers that reflect his ability to make the difference both in finishing and in creating chances. This decisive contribution has firmly established him as one of the team's leading figures.
In addition, the young talent from Rocafonda won the award for Best Player in La Liga 2025/26. In the domestic competition, he recorded 16 goals and 11 assists, and he was the player with the most assists in the league.
With the Spanish national team, Lamine Yamal also enjoyed a World Cup to remember, emerging as a world champion. The Barça forward played eight matches and scored one goal, contributing to Spain's success in another major international tournament.
As a result, the young footballer continues to collect trophies and accolades with both FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, further cementing his status as one of the leading figures in world football despite his young age.
The award, previously known as the Kopa Trophy, has also become synonymous with Barça talent. Before Lamine Yamal’s dominance, Pedri, in 2021, and Gavi, in 2022, had already placed FC Barcelona amongst the winners of the prize, which was established in 2018 by France Football.
With his victories in 2024, 2025, and now 2026, the youngster from Rocafonda has extended a record unmatched in the history of the award. Three consecutive titles that further consolidate Barça's dominance and reaffirm the club's ability to develop footballers with talent, personality, and world-class potential.
