Gabon's Charbo Squad to Play in 2026 WBLA Qualifiers in Brazzaville

Gabonese club Charbo Squad will compete in the qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA), scheduled from October 24 to 28 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. The tournament brings together six clubs from Gabon, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the host nation, all vying for two available qualification spots.

Brazzaville Qualifiers Set the Field

FIBA Africa confirmed the six participating teams for the regional qualification round. Charbo Squad will represent Gabonese women’s basketball against five opposing clubs seeking a path to the continental stage.

The field features Overdose Basketball Club Up Station from Cameroon, along with ASB CNSS and Hatari Basketball Club representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The host nation fields two entries: Association sportive Inter Club and Anges Noirs Basketball Club. Playing on home courts provides the two Congolese sides a potential advantage in the five-day round-robin race.

For Charbo Squad, the tournament demands consistent execution across every fixture to finish inside the top two positions of the group standings.

Alexandria Awaits the Finalists

At the conclusion of the Brazzaville matches on October 28, only the top two teams in the final standings will secure their tickets to the WBLA 2026 final phase. That decisive tournament is scheduled to take place from December 11 to 20 in Alexandria, Egypt.

The stakes highlight the broader objective for continental clubs competing in the premier women’s club basketball competition. Charbo Squad carries the aspirations of Gabon’s national basketball federation as the squad attempts to translate domestic ambition into on-court results in Brazzaville.
