Leeds United are forced to accept their second defeat of the Premier League season despite being the better side in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth after James Trafford's Halloween howler.

The goalkeeper passed straight to Justin Kluivert from inside his box, allowing Evanilson to be teed up and fire into the net beyond the back-tracking defenders. Amine Adli finished the game off in stoppage time with a low finish past the £40m summer signing.

Leeds thought they had gone ahead on 12 minutes amid a well-worked piece of play that saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin bundle the ball home. However, replays showed the ball had deflected off goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic and onto his hand before going in, causing VAR to rule it out.

Leeds had been the better team but undid their good work with a gift from Trafford, amid his misplaced pass to Justin Kluivert, who teed up Evanilson to tuck home on 31 minutes.

Rayan went close for Bournemouth on 65 minutes before James Justin nodded just wide a few moments later at the other end. Substitute Anton Stach blasted over a free kick and fired an effort wide of the post but Leeds couldn't find the net.

Instead, Aldi popped up, getting past the defender to fire home low across the ground. Here are how the Leeds players rated.

James Trafford - Inexplicably passed the ball straight to Bournemouth for their goal. Showed great anticipation for several Bournemouth through-balls. Made a good save from a free-kick. Has to be marked down for a game-defining error. 5

Jayden Bogle - Some nice one-touch stuff with Harry Wilson but couldn't find that end bite. A few tasty crosses. Defended fine. 6

James Justin - Fantastic ball in for the disallowed goal. Defended calmly, while getting stuck in. Headed one narrowly wide. 7

Nico Elvedi - Sturdy. Got a yellow for a late tackle that Daniel Farke felt was soft, leading to him himself going into the book. usually made the correct desicion. 7

Tarik Muharemovic - Composed, aside from a poor back pass that led to a corner. ball control was otherwise exemplary. Won his headers. 7

Gabriel Gudmundsson - Battled hard on the left, and was left with a bruise or two because of it. Should have been given more fouls. 6

Ethan Ampadu - Linked the back to the front decently. Left irate by many referee decisions. Ticked the ball over, keeping the flow at a good pace. Won a number of aerial duels. 6

Ao Tanaka - Good opening 20 minutes, dictating play from deep but then became loose with passing and sometimes not always there in the tackle. Overall gave a decent performance, though. 7

Harry Wilson - Oozed with confidence, laying balls off and firing a good effort just wide from distance. Fired a free-kick off target towards the end of the first half. Continued his link up play in the second half. 8

Dan James - Really bright start to the game on the left, beating two men in one move and crossing just inches ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Was always lively and positive, taking on men and winning duels. Used his pace well. 8

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Unlucky to have his goal ruled out, even if it was the correct decision by law - though some may argue he ought to have finished it in the first instance. Did well in the duel. 7

SUBS

Sean Longstaff (65' for Tanaka) - Some nice connecting passes and showed some creativity and ambition. Missed three tackles in a row in a hot-headed 10 seconds. Got forward well. Lost the ball for the second goal. 7

Anton Stach (65' for Gudmundsson) - Played centrally when he came on. Blasted a free-kick over and fired a decent chance wide. 5

Brenden Aaronson (84' for Wilson) - Came on too late for a full rating. N/A

Jean-Matteo Bahoya (84' for Justin) - Came on too late for a full rating. N/A

Lukas Nmecha (65' for James) - Ineffective. 4

MANAGER: Daniel Farke - Made a statement by starting Dan James and it worked. Leeds looked fluid and were on top. Maybe has to shoulder a small portion of the blame for the goalkeeper howler if that were his play-out instructions. Made a triple change on 65 minutes. Longstaff made an impact but even the introduction of two more attackers could not get Leeds the point they deserved. Farke went for it but Leeds came up against a team who know how to deliver wins when ahead. 7
