Hakimi’s trophy-filled season earns 13th place in 2026 Ballon d’Or

Achraf Hakimi has been named 13th in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings, which are being revealed progressively on Monday, 26 October.

The Morocco captain’s position recognises an outstanding campaign with Paris Saint-Germain and the national team, although it represents a drop from the sixth place he achieved in 2025.

Hakimi played a central role in a highly successful season for Paris Saint-Germain, helping the club win four trophies: Ligue 1, the Champions League, the Trophee des champions and the UEFA Super Cup.

The 27-year-old became an increasingly important figure for the Parisian side, combining consistency with a significant attacking contribution from right-back. His performances established him among the most influential players in his position in world football.

His year was equally notable at international level. With the Lions of the Atlas, Hakimi won CAN Maroc 2025, adding a major continental honour to his list of achievements.

Morocco then reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, underlining the team’s competitiveness on the international stage. Hakimi also marked a personal milestone by earning his 100th cap for his country.

That appearance highlighted both his longevity and his importance to the national team, where he has become a key figure and captain.

Hakimi’s 13th-place finish means he remains among the 30 players nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, despite not matching his ranking from the previous edition. His sixth-place finish in 2025 had placed him close to the leading contenders for football’s most prestigious individual award.

The latest result nevertheless reflects a season in which he collected major honours for both club and country. His four trophies with Paris Saint-Germain, the African title with Morocco, a World Cup quarter-final appearance and his 100th international cap all formed part of a campaign of considerable significance.

While the ranking does not restore Hakimi to the position he held last year, it confirms his standing among the elite players recognised in the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
