XXIII Rally Costa Brava Històric features 100 teams

Approximately 100 teams from a dozen European countries will participate in the XXIII Rally Costa Brava Històric, which features a double headquarters format between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Empuriabrava. Organized by Club RallyClassics, the 23rd edition of the regularity rally for historic vehicles repeats last year’s dual-headquarters format to anchor the competition across two prominent Costa Brava tourist hubs.

Official Presentation and Opening Schedule in Empuriabrava and Sant Feliu de Guíxols

Activities commence Wednesday, Oct. 28, with an official rally presentation at 11 a.m. local time at the Nova Estructura de Lletres along the boardwalk in Empuriabrava. On Thursday, Oct. 29, Sant Feliu de Guíxols hosts the opening day. Scrutineering and vehicle checks take place at Espai Carmen Thyssen ahead of the first competitive leg, which departs from Passeig Mar at 8:30 p.m. local time.

Night Stages and Second-Leg Transit to Empuriabrava

Crews contest the opening leg entirely under night driving conditions before returning to the start podium on Friday, Oct. 30, starting at 3 p.m. local time. That second leg directs competitors northward toward Empuriabrava. Saturday, Oct. 31, transforms Plaça de les Palmeres in Empuriabrava into a classic motor hub, featuring a morning classic car gathering alongside the 2 p.m. departure of the third and final competitive stage.

Route Length, Regularity Format, and French Border Crossings

The regularity rally spans roughly 1,000 kilometers over more than 20 regularity sections divided into three legs. Itineraries remain secret until the start of each stage to ensure competitive parity among participants. Eligible vehicles must be at least 25 years old and street-legal, allowing a varied field ranging from Mini Cooper models to Porsche 911, Opel Kadett, Seat Panda, Peugeot 205 Rallye, Renault 5 Turbo, and Ford Escort entries separated into age-based categories.

Spectators have free access to open-air start and podium zones established in both host municipalities. Event organizers schedule the awards ceremony for Sunday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. local time at Plaça de les Palmeres in Empuriabrava.
