Champions League suspensions: Leny Yoro, Michael Olise and Ethan Mbappe set to miss matches

Three players will miss this week’s Champions League fixtures through suspension, including Manchester United defender Leny Yoro and Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.

The competition resumes with matchday three of the league phase as Europe’s leading clubs continue their campaigns.

Yoro will be unavailable for Manchester United’s meeting with Como after receiving the first red card of his career in their 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid. The French defender was dismissed following a VAR review for a foul on Atletico forward Jonathan David.

United manager Michael Carrick will therefore have to cope without Yoro for the match.

Olise is also suspended for Bayern Munich’s game against Premier League champions and last year’s finalists Arsenal. The winger was sent off in Bayern’s match against Viking FK after throwing the ball at captain Zlatko Tripic.

It was Olise’s second yellow card, ruling him out of the meeting with Arsenal.

Lille midfielder Ethan Mbappe is serving a longer suspension after being dismissed during his side’s match against Real Betis. He was shown a red card in the 56th minute for elbowing Real Betis defender Natan in the face.

UEFA confirmed Mbappe has been given a three-match ban. His suspension will be completed after Lille’s match against Bodo / Glimt at the start of next month.

Without Mbappe, Lille face Galatasaray this week as they attempt to claim their first victory in the competition. The French side have lost both of their opening matches, against Arsenal and Real Betis.
