In 2026, lucha star Dragon Lee has become a fixture on WWE RAW and is building a reputation for delivering show-stealing bouts. This year, he has had fantastic matches with Gunther, Penta, Rey Fenix, and, on this week’s edition of the show, Rey Mysterio and Chad Gable.

Lee’s run of great performances comes at the right time because reports in recent months have suggested that the one-time tag team champion is nearing the end of his current contract. So he has some leverage to get a solid pay bump from WWE or a rival company like AEW.

Well, it looks like he got that from his current employer. According to a new report from PW Insider Elite, he has come to terms on what is believed to be a new five-year deal. The report adds that his current contract was expected to end this month.

Is Dragon Lee being set up for a major push soon?

As mentioned before, WWE has consistently used the Mexican star throughout the year. While he has often lost in many of his best matches, the fact that he is a constant on the red brand week in and week out is proof that the company is high on his ability.

Lee has also been a fixture in the Intercontinental title picture recently. It would not be a surprise if WWE has been testing the waters for him as a single champion on RAW and was just waiting for him to put his name on a new deal before going forward with a title push for the 31-year-old.

WWE has been making a big effort to grow its Spanish-speaking audience and footprint with Latin wrestling fans. Keeping Lee on the roster helps in that strategy. Now it is up to him and the promotion to see if they can turn him into a major long-term star who can be one of the new faces of WWE.
