Ajax teenager Abdellah Ouazane lets his football do the talking after Atalanta goal

Abdellah Ouazane strengthened his reputation as one of the most promising young players of his generation by scoring in Ajax’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta on Thursday.

The 17-year-old Morocco attacking midfielder came on in the 62nd minute of the UEFA Conference League second-round fixture and made an immediate impact. He sealed the win in the closing stages with the second goal, finishing off an outstanding individual move.

The performance offered another indication of Ouazane’s growing influence at Ajax Amsterdam, where his progress has continued to attract attention since he emerged as one of Morocco’s leading young talents.

Ouazane won the CAN U17 2025 with Morocco and is regarded as a player with the potential to reach the highest level. His latest goal further highlighted his ability to make a decisive contribution when opportunities arise.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport after the match, the teenager reflected on the goal and his confidence in his own qualities. However, despite the growing attention surrounding him, he has maintained a measured approach to his development.

Several major European clubs are already understood to be interested in the midfielder. Ouazane, though, is choosing to focus on improving at Ajax rather than looking too far ahead in his career.

That caution has accompanied an impressive start to the season. He is under contract with Ajax Amsterdam until June 2028 and is currently valued at 8 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Since the beginning of the campaign, Ouazane has made 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

His rise has also increased expectations around his future, but the Morocco international has continued to keep his attention on his performances and progression. The goal against Atalanta represented another significant step in that process without prompting him to make grand predictions about what comes next.

Ajax Amsterdam’s next fixture is their 10th league match of the season, at home to Sparta Rotterdam.
