Porto must beat PSV Eindhoven to revive Champions League hopes

FC Porto face PSV Eindhoven at the Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday 20 October 2026, with both sides searching for their first victory of this Champions League campaign.

The third matchday of the league phase will begin at 19:00 GMT. Porto are bottom of the contest between the two clubs with no points after two defeats, while PSV have collected one point.

The match will be shown on Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom. In Ireland, it will be available on Amazon Prime Video and Premier Sports 1, while viewers in France can watch on Canal+ Live 3.

Movistar Plus+ holds the rights in Spain, with Paramount+ and ViX showing the game in the United States. The German broadcaster is DAZN, while Ziggo Sport 3 will carry the match in the Netherlands. In Italy, coverage is provided by Sky Sport and Prime Video.

beIN Sports is the broadcaster across the Middle East and North Africa, and the match will be available on SuperSport and Canal+ Afrique in sub-Saharan Africa.

Previous meetings

The sides have met four times in official European competition. Porto have won two of those matches, compared with one victory for PSV, while the other ended in a draw.

Despite that narrow advantage in results, PSV have scored more goals across the meetings, with seven compared with Porto’s five.

Porto under pressure

Porto began the league phase with a 2-0 home defeat by Manchester City before losing 3-2 away to Real Betis in a match that ended painfully for the Portuguese club.

With no points from their opening two fixtures, the Dragons now need victory at the Estadio do Dragao to prevent their hopes of qualification from slipping further away.

PSV have also struggled to make an impact. Peter Bosz’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Shakhtar Donetsk in their opening match, then lost 1-0 away to RB Leipzig.

The Dutch champions arrive in Portugal with one point and are aiming to record their first European win of the season in the Champions League.

Porto’s home advantage, combined with their slight edge in the clubs’ previous meetings, makes them the expected winners. The Portuguese side are also seeking a response after their difficult start, while PSV remain without a victory in the competition.

The prediction is for a narrow 1-0 win for FC Porto.

Betting company 1xbet lists Porto at 1.52 to win, with a draw priced at 4.30 and a PSV victory at 4.60.
