THIS is the moment an amputee football match in Argentina ended in a brawl after one of the players scored a goal.
Footage shows the footballers using their crutches like weapons to attack their opponents as coaches rushed to the pitch to try and stop the melee.
The incident took place in Buenos Aires, where the Rampla Juniors, from Uruguay, took on Los Teros de Córdoba of the home nation.
The fight began at the end of a tense penalty shootout when everyone’s tempers were at a high point.
A player missed a crucial spot-kick and his rivals immediately ran into the penalty box to celebrate.
Moments later, the two teams were exchanging violent punches and kicks in front of the shocked crowd.
Earlier in the game, a sliding tackle on a grounded opponent had already triggered insults and an angry backlash.
Both captains eventually ended up being sent off the pitch as a result.
Rampla Juniors officials later condemned the violence in a statement released on social media.
“We want to make something very clear: we didn’t travel to Argentina to fight,” it said.
They stressed they had travelled purely to play football after months of fundraising and sacrifice.
In their statement, the club added that it believes in the sport as a force for inclusion, respect and opportunity.
They formally recorded the violence and demanded an investigation so that similar incidents do not happen again.
The statement concluded: “Violence does not represent us. Football, inclusion, and camaraderie do.”
No official response has yet emerged from the Argentine side or tournament organisers.
