Spanish club tennis heads to Madrid this autumn as the Club de Tenis Chamartín prepares to host the 2026 Campeonato de España Absoluto por Equipos from October 26 to October 31. Eight clubs in both the men’s and women’s divisions will compete across the six-day event, which coincides with the host institution’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Madrid club’s headquarters, bringing together key figures from national and regional tennis bodies. Attendees included Real Federación Española de Tenis President Miguel Díaz Román, Chamartín district council president Yolanda Estrada, Federación de Tenis de Madrid President Tati Rascón, CT Chamartín President Nicolás Ramos, and the club’s sporting director, Lolo Pastrana.
The women’s competition, officially designated as the 53rd Campeonato de España Iberdrola Absoluto por Equipos Femeninos, runs from Monday, October 26, through Wednesday, October 28. RCT Barcelona-1899 enters as the defending champion after defeating CT Valencia in the 2025 final held in Zaragoza.
Joining Barcelona and Valencia in the eight-team women’s field are CD Stadium Casablanca of Zaragoza, Real Murcia CT 1919, CT Chamartín, CA Montemar of Alicante, Real Zaragoza CT 1907, and CDE Tenis Madrid. CDE Tenis Madrid makes its debut in the top tier following promotion last season.
The men’s tournament—the 56th Campeonato de España Generali Absoluto por Equipos Masculinos—takes over the courts from Thursday, October 29, to Saturday, October 31. Real Murcia CT 1919 defends its crown against a competitive field that includes RCT Barcelona-1899, CA Montemar, CT Valencia, CT Chamartín, Cercle Sabadellès 1856, Real Zaragoza CT, and top-flight debutants Campus Tenis Club of Granada.
Daily play across both divisions begins at 10:00 local time. The women’s final is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, at 10:00 local time, with the men’s title match closing the tournament on Saturday, October 31, at the same hour. Admission for spectators is free throughout the week.
During the official launch, Díaz Román emphasized the demanding nature of the team format and praised clubs for fostering athletic pathways, noting that several professionals—including Rafa Jódar and Martín Landaluce—developed their games through CT Chamartín’s programs. Club president Nicolás Ramos highlighted the significance of returning the joint men’s and women’s absolute championships to Madrid during the club’s diamond jubilee year.
Further updates and daily order of play will be published through the official channels of the Real Federación Española de Tenis as the tournament approaches its October 26 opening match.
