‘It feels good to be back playing as I used to’ – Blessing Shine

Hasaacas Ladies defender Blessing Shine says she is hopeful of enjoying a much better season after overcoming a difficult injury recovery to return to competitive football.

The defender reflected on her journey after helping Hasaacas defeat Ampem Darkoa Ladies 1-0 to win the 2026/27 Champion of Champions at the Otumfuo Astro Turf on Friday.

Shine suffered a severe knee injury in late 2023 and underwent extensive rehabilitation in early 2024 before returning to competitive action with Hasaacas in March of that year.

Her recovery has since allowed her to continue contributing to the club, including helping the Doo Ladies win the 2025/26 Women's FA Cup.

She admitted that regaining her form after the injury had been challenging, particularly over the past two seasons.

“It's been good to be back, and it feels good to be back playing as the Blessing Shine that we used to know because recovering from injury has been a very tough journey,” she said.

“When you are recovering, it makes your game very difficult. Picking up the pieces has been difficult. I've been struggling for the past two seasons, but I can boldly and confidently say that this has been good, and hopefully, the upcoming season will be much better.”

Shine's comments come after Hasaacas began the new campaign with a trophy, defeating their rivals through Milot Pokuaa's second-half strike.

The victory also offered revenge for their defeat to Ampem Darkoa in the Women's Premier League final earlier this year.

Hasaacas will now turn their attention to the 2026/27 Women's Premier League, which begins on the weekend of October 23.
