Former Ferrari chief Mauricio Arrivabene has offered some strong words of advice to Fred Vasseur amid Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s conflicts out on track.
The Mexico City Grand Prix was yet another example of what a lack of team orders does to a team that houses two highly ambitious drivers.

If Fred Vasseur leaves Ferrari, who would be the best replacement?
The Briton ended up dropping down to P3, while Leclerc seemingly ruined his chances of winning after failing to give the position back to Hamilton and receiving a five-second time penalty as a result.
“The team principal must act like a team principal, and the driver must act like a driver,” former Ferrari chief Maurizio Arrivabene said during a recent appearance for Sky Sports Italy, with quotes via Formula Passion.
Arrivabene, who spent just over four years at the helm of Ferrari’s efforts in Formula 1, continued, suggesting that the Frenchman needs to rein his drivers in ahead of their media duties after a session.
“Sometimes drivers make statements that are a bit of a load of rubbish, in the sense that they try to get the whole team, the whole company, on their side.
“That’s when the team principal has to step in, acting like a team principal and saying: ‘Listen up, lads, the next time something like this happens, there’ll be hell to pay. Everyone stick to their role: you’re two drivers, and you’re two Ferrari employees.’ Full stop,” he concluded.
Following the chequered flag in Mexico City, Hamilton demanded ‘serious talks’ to take place behind the scenes at Maranello, so it should be fascinating to see whether Vasseur arrives at Interlagos this weekend with a new philosophy regarding the management of his drivers.
