2026/27 GPL Preview: Aduana FC host Berekum Chelsea in Bono derby

Aduana FC will be aiming to climb back into the top half of the Ghana Premier League table when they welcome Berekum Chelsea FC to the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park on Sunday for an exciting Bono derby encounter.

The Fire Club enter the fixture looking to recover from a narrow 1-0 defeat suffered against league leaders Medeama SC last weekend, a result that pushed them out of the top four positions.

Aduana currently sit seventh on the league table with 13 points after eight matches, having recorded three wins and two defeats in their last five league outings. They have scored seven goals and conceded five so far this season.

Despite their recent setback, the Dormaa-based side remain a formidable force at home. After losing 1-0 to FC Samartex 1996 in Matchday Two, Aduana have responded with three successive victories at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Their impressive home record against Berekum Chelsea will also provide motivation ahead of the derby. The Fire Club have won all six of their previous home league meetings against the Blues since the 2020/21 season, with those matches producing 19 goals.

Berekum Chelsea travel to Dormaa with renewed confidence after extending their unbeaten run to three matches in the league.

The Blues secured a goalless draw against FC Samartex 1996 at the Golden City Park last weekend, continuing their recent improvement and defensive stability.

They currently occupy 10th position with 11 points after eight matches, having registered two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five games. Chelsea have scored 10 goals and conceded nine this campaign.

The Berekum-based club will also be encouraged by their improving away form. After suffering three consecutive defeats on the road, they finally secured their first away victory of the season with an impressive 2-0 win over Heart of Lions in their previous trip.

With Aduana looking to maintain their dominance at home and Berekum Chelsea hoping to continue their recent resurgence, Sunday’s Bono derby promises to be a fiercely contested battle between two sides eager for maximum points.
