Liverpool may look to strengthen their squad in January after head coach Andoni Iraola identified defensive midfield as an area requiring reinforcements, according to The Touchline.

The Reds are expected to consider signing a suitable player during the winter transfer window, with Iraola believing his side need greater depth in the holding midfield position.

Liverpool currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, having collected nine points from their opening six matches.

Iraola took charge at the beginning of the summer after replacing the dismissed Arne Slot. The Spanish coach signed a contract running until the middle of 2028.
