Both Premier League giants will be eyeing a place in the quarter-finals as they bid for silverware in the new year.

These two sides have played out some fiery contests in the past, and there might well be a few fireworks in this one too.

Here is everything you need to know about the clash on Merseyside this evening.

What time is Liverpool v Chelsea kick-off?

The match kicks off on Wednesday, October 28, at 8pm at Anfield, Liverpool.

What TV channel is it on?

The game will be broadcast live across the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.

Coverage gets under way at 7pm.

What about live streaming?

Sky Sports customers can live stream the fixture via the Sky Go app, which is available on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and gaming consoles.

Alternatively, fans without a full Sky subscription can stream the match by purchasing a NOW Sports membership.

What is the team news?

Both managers are expected to shuffle their packs in the face of demanding Premier League and European schedules, but both sides will want a positive result here.

Liverpool could hand valuable minutes to several fringe and younger squad members, although there may well be a fair number of senior stars involved too.

The Reds are monitoring a knock picked up by Florian Wirtz and it remains to be seen whether he will be involved.

Victor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai may be sidelined again as they continue to recover from injuries.

Chelsea similarly possess formidable depth in their ranks and are expected to rotate across the front line and midfield.

They will be without Cole Palmer, who's suspended following his red card in the defeat to Tottenham at the weekend.
