Michael Carrick is under significant pressure and debate is underway over whether he should be sacked by Manchester United. A 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth compounded a concerning week for the Red Devils, having also lost 4-1 to Como in the Champions League, leaving United 16th in the Premier League table after eight matches. Boos rang out at full-time on Sunday, with Carrick visibly dejected as he waved to the Old Trafford faithful as he exited the pitch.
United are without a win in eight matches, having claimed victory just twice in the league this season, with Bournemouth handing them their latest embarrassment.
Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson sealed a dominant away win for the Cherries, with United put to the sword and cut through like butter on several occasions.
Carrick made the bold decision not just to drop his captain Bruno Fernandes, but not bring him onto the pitch at all, despite United being in desperate need of goals.
Matheus Cunha, also left out, was brought on in an attempt to address the drubbing, but the Brazilian's efforts were in vain and the home support made their feelings clear to the players through vicious jeers at full-time.
Lisandro Martinez was another player to speak out against the club publicly in the past few weeks, and he was also named on the substitutes' bench, while Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro struggled against a vibrant Bournemouth attack.
Carrick fronted up to the responsibility in his post-match interview but the head coach is facing the prospect of losing his job in the next few hours.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the defeat, Carrick said: "I have to say, it's really difficult for me to have a day like this at this football club and to feel the emotion and the dynamics of what it was like today.
"Not for me personally, but for Manchester United. It was, yeah, it was really mixed today. Of course, I feel a lot of responsibility.
"You know, I've been at the club a long time and in the position I'm in, I feel a lot of responsibility. So it hurts an awful lot to see us going through this moment in time."
