Brentford boss Keith Andrews has suggested that five players could return from injury to feature for the side against Liverpool this weekend, in a huge encounter in the Premier League.
The Reds travel down to London in a quick turnaround from Wednesday's victory over LASK in the Champions League, knowing that a victory could be vital to the league standings.
Andoni Iraola's side have been inconsistent at best in the division, picking up two wins and three draws, before a first defeat of the campaign against Manchester City last weekend, with a meeting that had plenty of storylines surrounding it.
In Brentford, Liverpool faces a different challenge. The Bees are incredibly well-drilled, having taken another step under the guidance of head coach Keith Andrews in the past year.
The west-London club sits fourth in the Premier League table, picking up two wins and four draws so far this season, remaining unbeaten having faced the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa in the early weeks of the campaign.
For another crucial encounter at the start of the season for Brentford, there are some injury concerns that Andrews may need to account for. Josh Dasilva is set to miss out, having not featured so far this campaign due to a hamstring problem, while striker Kaye Furo is also unavailable.
There are five doubts along with that, with Kevin Schade and Jannik Schuster both picking up injury issues in the most recent match with Aston Villa. Andrews revealed in his pre-match press conference that the pair are back training, but remain doubts for the Liverpool game.
The manager said: "Jannik and Kev have been on the grass this week and we’ll see what tomorrow brings in terms of how much they can do. They are different types of injuries. This week, we’ve had to navigate through a few issues. Those two are some of those who are making their way back from injury. Overall, we’re in a really good place.”
As for another trio, all of Sepp van den Berg, Nathan Collins, and Mikkel Damsgaard have suffered from varying injury problems. The former of those, an ex-Liverpool ace in his own right, was recently named in his first squad of the season after recovering from a groin injury, while the other two are still working their way back.
“Closer, is the case with all of those players you just mentioned,” Andrews continued. “They’re coming back from different injuries and different lengths of injuries. Dams [Damsgaard] is obviously the shortest of all of them. The one he picked up away with Denmark was from a pretty naughty tackle.”
It remains to be seen whether any of the five players will be involved against Liverpool, in what will be an interesting match on Saturday between the two sides.
The Reds have been suffering with their own injury issues in recent weeks that will need to be addressed too. Iraola has refused to rule out a trio of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexander Isak, and Cody Gakpo, despite them all missing out on the first two games after the international break.
There will also be questions over the midfield, with Ryan Gravenberch unavailable due to a red card suspension from the previous match, leaving Iraola with plenty of key decisions that need to be made.
