Tottenham Hotspur are attempting to solve their issues up front by raiding Real Madrid for Endrick, and Jose Mourinho has now directly responded to the speculation over the Brazilian’s future.
Spurs’ interest in Endrick goes back to the January 2026 window, but it was Lyon who secured the Brazilian’s services on loan at the start of this calendar year.
After impressing at the Ligue 1 club, the 20-year-old would have hoped to get minutes back in Madrid, but so far this season, he has been restricted to just two appearances.
Interestingly, one of those came last night in the Champions League against Roma, where Endrick was awarded the Man of the Match, despite only playing 30 minutes off the bench in the 4-3 comeback win.
It was initially reported last month that Real Madrid do not want to sell Endrick amid interest from the likes of Spurs and Arsenal, but it was suggested that the player was set for crunch talks with his employers over his future.
This was because the Brazil international was thought to be frustrated with the lack of opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Just a few days ago, Football Insider reported that Madrid had decided to loan out Endrick in January so that the young forward can get some competitive action under his belt.
The update claimed that the striker’s availability would be explored by Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who are keen to add firepower to their forward line.
However, Tottenham have now been handed a blow by their former boss, Jose Mourinho, who has made it clear that the 20-year-old will not be loaned out in the winter.
When asked about the Palmeiras academy graduate’s future, the Madrid boss simply said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Mark my words again, it is impossible for Endrick to be loaned out”.
The January window is always tricky as most top players are usually not for sale mid-season.
A loan deal for Endrick may have been the perfect stop-gap for Tottenham as it would have allowed them to wait until next summer to go for a top-class number nine.
In addition, reports have widely indicated that Spurs will have to be restrained in the January window as they do not have the PSR wiggle room to go big again, as they did in the summer.
This statement from Mourinho thus comes as a blow to the Lilywhites, who face a tough task in the winter in their pursuit of a number nine.
