Arsenal have enjoyed a promising start to the season but remain aware that opportunities to improve the squad exist in the upcoming transfer window. Mikel Arteta is determined to build upon last season's achievements by defending the Premier League crown and securing the Champions League trophy for the first time in the club's illustrious history.

The Gunners strengthened their squad with the summer acquisitions of Ezri Konsa, Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis. Nevertheless, Arsenal's failed attempts to land Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior and Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez prove that Arteta was keen to bolster his forward line.

Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi has reportedly surfaced as a potential target for Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window. The 22-year-old has netted nine times in 12 appearances for the Belgian outfit this season, including a Champions League hat-trick against Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, the Gunners' recent triumphs have been built on their solid defence, yet goalkeeper David Raya has hinted he may depart Arsenal in the future. Here, Express Sport examines some of the most significant stories from north London...

David Raya makes exit admission

Spain international Raya has suggested he could leave Arsenal in the future, expressing his desire to play in La Liga. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract runs until 2028, has proved vital since initially joining on loan from Brentford in 2023.

Raya has cemented his status as one of the world's finest goalkeepers, securing three successive Premier League golden gloves while helping the Gunners finally capture the title last season.

The former Blackburn star also featured in Spain's World Cup-winning squad this summer and acknowledged he would welcome the chance to prove himself in his homeland, having spent his entire professional career in English football.

When questioned about whether he would be interested in playing in Spain, Raya told Marca: "Yes, I would love to, I would love to try La Liga. For now, I'm very happy here, but I would like to try the Spanish league.

"I think it's a very competitive league. Maybe, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I'm Spanish and I would love to play there, that's for sure."

Arsenal eye new signing

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Club Brugge star Tresoldi. The Germany Under-21 international has been exceptional for the Belgian outfit, which sold Christos Tzolis to the Gunners in the summer.

Arteta has depended on Kai Havertz to lead the line in every Premier League fixture this season, with Viktor Gyokeres failing to make an impact when given opportunities.

According to The Sun, this predicament has prompted Arsenal to turn their attention towards Tresoldi, with the Gunners considering a potential January transfer.

Tresoldi's valuation is understood to have climbed to approximately £42million after Brugge turned down a £30m bid from Roma. Arsenal would, however, encounter competition from AC Milan for the 22-year-old, who is a boyhood fan of the Italian giants.
