Daniel Bartholomew fires BUL past UPDF

Daniel Bartholomew scored twice as BUL secured a convincing 2-0 victory over UPDF in the Uganda Premier League at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Bartholomew’s brace earned the visitors maximum points, lifting them to the top of the league table.

BUL threatened early, with Bachwezi coming close to opening the scoring in the 15th minute, only for Kitabalwa to make a timely block and deny him.

The visitors continued to push for a breakthrough and eventually found it through Bartholomew, who struck to put BUL ahead.

Okello came close to extending BUL’s advantage in the 52nd minute, forcing UPDF goalkeeper Shamran Kamya into an excellent save.

Six minutes later, Bartholomew was in the right place to power home his second goal of the game, putting BUL firmly in control.

UPDF’s task became even more difficult as Aggrey Kiirya was sent off after receiving a second yellow card as the match approached the hour mark.

UPDF had entered the contest on the back of a 2-1 victory over Express on Thursday, having scored twice in quick succession to secure the win. However, they were unable to build on that result against BUL.

The victory takes BUL to the top of the Uganda Premier League standings with 16 points, while UPDF remain ninth with eight points from six matches.
