A goal in each half from Andri Gudjohnsen saw Wrexham slip to a 2-0 defeat at Ewood Park in the Championship.
Parkinson was left frustrated after seeing his side register 23 attempts on goal but only once hit the target and although he praised Blackburn for the way they defended, the Reds boss knows his side need to do better in key areas.
“Difficult conditions for both sides. We were against it a bit in terms of the elements first half," he said.
“Obviously conceding just before the break was a setback but I still felt at half-time the game was there for us. But we couldn’t produce the quality we needed.
“We’ve had 23 attempts but to only have one of those on target, we have to look at that.
“I’ve got to give Blackburn defenders credit because they blocked things, made 9-10 blocks.
"They defended crosses, they defended set plays. It was a combination of their good defending, but we couldn’t find that clinical moment to get us back in the game and the game was separated on two moments.
“When we analyse the positions we got into, we got in enough good positions to have got something from the game but we just didn’t produce the quality.”
Parkinson says Wrexham targeted areas where Tony Mowbray's Blackburn side had looked vulnerable in recent weeks and created several dangerous situations, only to come up short against a determined defensive display.
"We put in some great deliveries, we had scrambles, shots where they've blocked a few times, we've had Kieffer Moore's header from a corner, and we had enough moments in areas we felt we could exploit Blackburn and where they'd conceded goals in recent weeks," he said.
"But I'm sure Tony will say his defenders absolutely stood up and were counted and handled our front players really well in the important areas of the football pitch, and that's in the penalty box."
Blackburn took their chances and top scorer Gudjohnsen displayed the quality missing from Wrexham’s performance as he made it eight league goals this season.
"That's separated the teams for me," he added. "You can't fault our lads' effort at all, I thought we gave everything.
"That cross, that set-play delivery was at times good then as the game went on, we'd made changes and the set play delivery wasn't as accurate.
"But when we review the game, we've had enough moments and got in enough areas but football's about taking the moment."
