Arne Engels netted his first goal for West Ham United as they fought their way back from three goals down to salvage a draw at Cardiff.
Engels has been a regular for the Championship side since his £22 million move from Celtic in the summer, but he faced uncertainty following the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo.
Former West Ham midfielder Scott Parker was announced as the club’s new boss, and he handed Engels a start in his first game in charge.

Engels admitted that his new manager was “really angry” as the Hammers trailed 3-0 at half-time, but his team talk clearly paid off as they went on to salvage a draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.
It was a half to remember for the Belgian, who netted his side’s second goal in the 65th minute as they searched for the equaliser.

A flick-on allowed Engels to set himself up for a first-time finish inside the box, and he made no mistake in netting his first goal in claret and blue.
It makes it 15 appearances and four goal contributions since his switch to London three months ago.
To say Celtic miss his running power in the middle of the park would be an understatement. It was no surprise to see him move on, especially after the Hoops rejected a deal worth up to £25 million from Nottingham Forest on deadline day of the winter transfer window.
The 23-year-old even registered an assist on his final appearance in green and white, crossing the ball in for Kasper Hogh, who scored a hat-trick against Kilmarnock that day.
Engels eyes promotion to England’s top flight, and his contribution at Celtic will be remembered fondly by many. He had his critics, but this current side really could do with a player of his athleticism.
