Rangers are understood to be keeping tabs on an English defender ahead of the January transfer window.
Rangers News exclusively reported that there are no plans for any big-name arrivals in the winter, and the club will look to plug the holes if necessary.
While no decision has been made on the number of new signings, the process has begun to finalise the targets ahead of the new year.
Pete O’Rourke has reported that the Ibrox outfit are keen on securing the services of Doncaster Rovers full-back Bayley McCann. The club sent scouts to watch the Under-21 Northern Ireland international on Tuesday.

The game was against Stockport County, and it did not end too well for McCann’s side as they lost 2-0. The 20-year-old played the full game as a wing-back for Doncaster. His heat map shows that not only did he bomb up and down the left flank, but he also did the same thing on the right too, following Leon Ayinde’s injury.
While McCann is playing regularly for a 20-year-old, it’s understood that even if the Gers sign him in January, he will primarily arrive as a squad player.
Derek McInnes will surely like his versatility, as he’s capable of playing in midfield as well. The Rangers manager has asked James Penrice, an out-and-out left-back, to drift inside, and he could see the Northern Irishman cut from the same cloth as well.
Rangers News understands that no approach has been made and the interest is still at the early stages.
