The NFL’s Nov. 10 trade deadline arrives on Tuesday, and teams have been actively discussing deals with other organizations. Some teams will be buyers; others will be sellers. Yet, the New York Giants are looking to add talent after a hot start to their season.
One player who’s been frequently linked in Giants trade rumors is First-Team All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor. Yet, there’s no guarantee the Indianapolis Colts will trade their best player, who’s under contract through 2028. The Colts’ previous trade selloffs, Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, were both in the final year of their contracts. Thus, there’s no urgency for the Colts to move the 27-year-old now, rather than in the offseason or possibly next year if they struggle again. Yet, with the Colts not having a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, Indianapolis is looking to add to their draft capital now.
The Giants were indeed pursuing a trade for Taylor, some even reported they were being “aggressive” in their pursuit. Yet, negotiations appear to have reached a breaking point.
According to Fox Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Giants have pulled their trade offer for the three-time Pro Bowler because the cost was just too high. They reportedly had an offer for a second-round pick plus a fifth-round selection in exchange for Taylor, yet, as Glazer says, now that deal is no longer on the table.
“The Giants had offered a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick for Jonathan Taylor, that was a couple weeks ago, now their offer is off the table. So unless the Colts come down, I don’t see that happening for Jonathan Taylor.

Meanwhile, the Colts are said to be seeking a similar trade return to what the Carolina Panthers got for trading Christian McCaffrey, in which they got a second, third, fourth, and a future fifth-round selection. Other reports have suggested that the Colts are trying to get a first-round pick back. It remains to be seen whether the Colts are simply posturing in an attempt to drive up the price, or whether they’re truly not ready to part with their star rusher. Yet, the Giants appear to be tired of waiting around.
