Lee Sobot's Leeds United player ratings v Tottenham as star trio and impact subs all score 8/10, frustrating 5

Leeds United player ratings versus Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds United returned to winning ways and finally banished the lunchtime kick-off curse with a 1-0 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur - but how did we rate the performances?

Tottenham survived Leeds claims for a penalty as Mateus Fernandes attempted to chest the ball back to keeper Antonin Kinsky, VAR taking a look but judging that the midfielder had not committed a handball offence.

Neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled, albeit Whites stopper James Trafford made a few easy enough saves. Tottenham’s main threat though came from winger Mohammed Kudus who flashed a few dangerous crosses through the box.

But the real talking point of the first half concerned a Jayden Bogle foul on Mathys Tel who was eventually forced off injured, Bogle catching Tel on his heel and VAR checking for a possible red card but Bogle ultimately cleared after a nervy wait inside Elland Road.

Leeds, though, were hugely improved after the interval and Daniel Farke’s side bagged the only goal of the game with ten minutes left as two substitutes combined with Harry Wilson setting up Noah Okafor to blast home a clinical finish.

Leeds United writer Lee Sobot hands out the scores.

8 - Solid display, saved Tottenham's shots at goal and alert out of his area to clear danger in the first half. Then a huge save towards the end.

6 - Heart in mouths stuff when VAR checked his challenge on Tel and struggled to have the impact he normally has in the first half but much better after the break.

8 - Just what the doctor ordered after last weekend's Bournemouth mishap, not that there was any doubt. Very solid display in the first half, saved Tottenham's shots at goal and alert out of his area to clear danger in the first half. Then a huge save towards the end. Key to the victory.

6 - A bit of a struggle for the skipper and his teammates in centre midfield to start with but much better after the break and he even had a few decent attempts at goal.

7 - The liveliest centre midfielder in the first half who threw himself into lots of tackles and generally buzzed about. More energy after the break and a warm applause when he was subbed.

8 - Talk about an impact sub, immediately offered a threat and applied a clinical finish within seconds of coming on.

7 - On at the same time as Okafor and quickly provided the assist for his goal. Then proved a general nuisance for Spurs after the goal and appears to be finally coming to the boil.

4 - A bit willy-nilly with his cards and hard to predict what was a foul/booking and what wasn't. Huge call on Bogle's foul but all good from a Leeds point of view anyway.
