Rangers will be seeing one of their longest-serving employees part ways with the club at the end of the season.

Connal Cochrane has taken the decision to leave come May 2027, and will then take a decision about his future.

He is the Chief Executive of the Rangers Charity Foundation, a position that he has held since February 2025.

How did Connal Cochrane and the Chair of the Rangers Charity Foundation react to the news?

Cochrane admitted that it was an extremely difficult and emotional decision he had to make. He still stated that he believes it is the right one and something that he’s looking forward to, as he will be taking a break.

He mentioned spending more time with his dog, but admits that he will miss the employees at the Charity Foundation.

Cochrane took to LinkedIn to write: “Gosh…This has been a very emotion-packed decision for me to make.

“It’s been a huge privilege to have had the trust and support to lead the Foundation for over two decades and I will sorely miss it, my colleagues at the Foundation, staff at Rangers Football Club and working with our trustees.

“However, as much as this has been a very difficult and personal decision to make, I’m calm knowing that it is the right one.

“When I leave next May, I am looking forward to having a good break and allowing some time and space before deciding what my next chapter might look like, be that work-related, volunteer-related or neither or both! I won’t want to be too idle, so after indulging my dog Otto with more adventurous dog walks and trail runs than usual for a while, I’ll look forward to shaping life beyond the Foundation.

“Today is definitely not goodbye, and I’m grateful for the kind and generous words from the Rangers Charity Foundation and our Chair, Jacqueline Gourlay, today.”

Gourlay expressed deep gratitude for Cochrane’s 22 years of service to the Foundation, highlighting his dedication to expanding the charity’s reach and his particular pride in supporting the Armed Forces community. She lauded his steady leadership, care for colleagues and ability to guide the team through challenging times with sound judgment and diplomacy.

It was also mentioned that the foundation respects his decision to take a break before considering his next step and looks forward to celebrating his immense contributions properly before the season ends. Ultimately, she emphasised that Cochrane leaves behind a strong, dedicated team and can take great pride in the profound difference he has made.

Gourlay said: “Connal has given an extraordinary amount to the Foundation over the past 22 years, and we owe him a heartfelt thank you.

“He has helped grow both our work and our ambition, reaching thousands of people across our communities. He takes particular pride in our work with the Armed Forces community, supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families.

“He has guided the Foundation through some very challenging times with care, sound judgement and diplomacy, always keeping the Foundation and the people we support at the heart of his decisions.

“Connal cares deeply about his colleagues and has built a strong, dedicated team. Whether taking on personal fundraising challenges or supporting those around him, he has always been willing to give that bit more.

“We respect his decision to take time to consider what comes next and will have plenty of opportunity before the end of the season to celebrate his contribution properly. He has our sincere thanks for everything he has given and can be very proud of the difference he has made.”
