Hornets update Kon Knueppel's status ahead of NBA Cup matchup vs. Celtics

Riding a five-game losing streak, the Charlotte Hornets host the Boston Celtics Friday for their second game of NBA Cup Group Play. As for the Celtics, they enter the contest having won six of their last seven, sitting in a tie for second-place in the Eastern Conference as a result. Prior to the matchup, the Hornets are dealing with a few injuries, including Kon Knueppel, who was forced to leave his season debut after six minutes due to a leg injury.

For Friday's game, Knueppel has been ruled out due to a left hamstring strain. Former Celtics forward Grant Williams is also out, despite recently practicing with Charlotte's G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Starting center Moussa Diabate and backup point guard Dennis Schroder were listed as questionable.

The Celtics will be without Devin Carter. Former Sixth Man of the Year Award winner Payton Pritchard has been listed as questionable due to an eye injury.
